Museum Educator
Stanley-Whitman House seeks a dynamic, strategic, and passionate Museum Educator. This role is critical in the development, planning, and implementation of various educational and public programs, particularly as the museum prepares to commemorate the United States Semiquincentennial, the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. We seek a candidate who understands the import of this occasion and simultaneously implements National and Connecticut social studies standards to create engaging and educational experiences aligned with our mission.
In this collaborative role, you will work closely with the Executive Director to ensure that all programming is innovative and valuable for various audiences, including K-12 students, families, college students, and lifelong learners. As a small museum that "punches above its weight," we rely on our dedicated and committed staff and a cohort of volunteers participating in research, historical interpretation, docent activities, living history, and more.

The ideal candidate has experience in visitor services, retail, or customer engagement and is enthusiastic about history and community involvement. Candidates with additional experience in nonprofit operations, fundraising, and event planning are encouraged to apply. This position coordinates the Welcome Center's daily activities in close collaboration with the administrative, curatorial, education, development, and finance staff. The job description is not exhaustive, and duties may evolve based on museum needs.
